| ORC Reindeer Romp : New Location |

Ocean Running Club 2007 Reindeer Romp.
The Ocean Running Club will host the 16th Annual Reindeer Romp on Sunday December 7, 2008 in Point Pleasant. The new location for this years race will be at Tuscanys Resturant and Bar at 1490 Rt. 88 W. Brick, NJ 08723. The new course will be flat and fast. The pre entry price will be $25 ($20 for ORC members). Pre entry shirt guarenteed. Post race shirts while supplies last. 1 Mile fun run $12 fee includes a Short sleeve shirt. Kiddie dash is $2. Tuscany's will provide a post race meal to beat all post race meals. All runners and volunteers eat free. All others can purchase a ticket to eat for $5. Awards top 3 male and female. And top 3 male and female in 10 year age groups.

| Steven Sprague Memorial 5K Run/Walk |

On October 16th Steven Sprague, age 28, was tragically killed while working the night shift for his construction company on the New Jersey Turnpike. This tragedy has had a tremendous impact upon the entire Toms River Community, but most significantly on Toms River High School East. Steven was a 1998 graduate of High School South. He leaves behind his wife Nicole, who was his high school sweetheart. Nicole is a 4th grade teacher at the Citta School; Steven also leaves behind his beautiful daughter Abigail, who is seven months old. Steven is the son of former High School East principal Maureen Madden, the stepson of teacher Bruce Madden, brother of fellow teacher Casey Daniel, and the brother to a high school student and athlete on the girls cross country team, Taylor Madden. The Toms River East girls cross country team would like to begin a new tradition to honor the memory of Steven. Please join them in celebrating the life of Steven through the first annual "Steven Sprague Memorial 5k Run/Walk." All procedes from this event will be donated to Abigail's scholarship fund. | Seaside Half Marathon And 5K |

Runners at the 2008 Seaside Half Marathon
Another record crowd of runners participated in the Ocean Running Club's 31st Annual Seaside Half Marathon. Nearly 500 runners raced down the boardwalk in Seaside into Island Beach State Park, before turning around and heading back to the finish on the boardwalk.
The overall winner was Hector Rivera, finishing in a time of 1:14:29. Mike Carriglitto (1:17:53) and Paulo De Oliveira (1:19:53) finished second and third respectively. Dianne Deoliveria was the first female finisher, in a time of 1:30:08. Erin Enderly (1:30:24) and Rachel Farnsworth (1:31:47) finished second and third. Jim Lunski won the 5K race in a time of 18:38. Chris Peters (19:08) and Mark Mellea (19:09) finished 2nd and 3rd.
Barbarajean Brennan was the first female finisher, with a time of 21:17. Camile Ford (22:47) and Megan Bright (23:06) finished 2nd and 3rd.

| Asbury Park Polar Bear Races |

The 45th annual Asbury Park Polar Bear Races will be held on Sunday, Dec. 28th on the boardwalk. The Polar Bear 5-Mile Run will start at 1 p.m. and will be preceded by the 10-mile racewalk, and five-mile health and fitness walk at 10 a.m. The Polar Bear 10-Mile Racewalk and 5-Mile Health and Fitness Walk starts at 10 a.m. All athletes invited. | Shore Athletic Club Open Cross Country Meet |

Programs start with Open 5K Run for men and women 14 and over at 9:30 am. Series of boys and girls age-group races in 9-and-under, 10-11 and 12-13 divisions starts at 10:30 a.m. Trophies to top 10 finishers each race. 5K Race includes competition for the Bill Brouillette Cup for runners representing their past and present high school teams. | ORC Group Run Update |

Several changes have been made to the ORC group run schedule. Manasquan Reservoir Group Run
The group run at the Manasquan Reservoir will continue on the first Saturday of every month. The run starts at 8:00am. Runners and walkers of all paces are welcome. The run will be on the 5 mile gravel perimeter trail. Multiple loops can be added for additional mileage. Meet in the parking lot off of Windeler Road next to the trail entrance, adjacent to the main building. For directions and park information, check out the Manasquan Reservoir webpage. Track Workout At Ocean County College
The group track workout continues on Thursday evenings beginning at 5:30pm. There will be no official workouts in July, during the Summer Series, but will continue in August. Winding River Park
The weekly ORC group run continues every Tuesday at 6:30pm. During July (Summer Series is Tuesday evenings), the run will be on Thursday evening. The group meets at Winding River Park in Toms River, the site of the ORC Summer Series. The run starts at 6:30pm, with the group heading out on the 5K course. As always, all paces are welcome. Bring your running/walking friends and join in on the fun. JUST ADDED : Island Heights
This run has just been added. The group will meet on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 8am. Meet at the fire house(Lake Ave). Nice hill workout, and scenic run along the Toms River.
