The ORC track workouts are back at the Donovan Catholic High School track. The track is located behind the school off of Hooper Avenue.
Workouts will be held on Tuesday evenings, beginning at 5:30pm with a warmup and a different track workout each week. Anyone who wants to improve, get a good workout, or run with a group, come on out! All paces are welcome.
Check out the Ocean Running Club Facebook Page for additional information.
New Running Program
The Ocean Running Club has started a "Newbie" running day, for runners just starting out, those who want to start running, or who would like to run a little faster. The group will be meeting Tuesday nights at 7pm at Winding River Park in Toms River. Meet at the pavillion near the entrance by the skating rink. (This is where the Summer Series was held.) All paces are welcome.
The Ocean Running Club will be holding a general meeting Friday August 14, 2015
at SnB Running, located 336 Lacey Road in Forked River. The meeting starts at at 6:30 pm. Join us at the store for a fun run at 6pm before the meeting. Snb will have some refreshments for us following.
Come on out to see what is new with the club. We will be discussing the many ORC events. Club/race updates, marathon training, track workouts guest speakers and more.
If you have any questions, e-mail Harold or
Pat. Bring a friend if you like. Please let Harold or Pat know if you can make it so we can get a headcount for food.
ORC Summer Series
The Ocean Running Club's Summer Series concluded Tuesday evening at Winding River Park in Toms River. Another great turnout of runners lined up for the fourth, and final, week of the four-race series.
Results coming soon.
Thanks to all the runners and walkers that came out to make the series a success. There was a great pasta party with raffles and a 50/50. Thank you to all the volunteers - we couldn't do it without you!
Mark Fletcher took some great shots of the runners, available on the ORC Photo Gallery.
ORC Seaside Half Marathon and 5K
The Ocean Running Club's 38th Annual Seaside Half Marathon and 5K is scheduled for Sunday October 18, 2015. The race(s) benefit the Tri-Boro First Aid Squad of Seaside Heights, Seaside Park, and Berkeley Twp. and The ORC Scholarship Fund.
There are some exciting new changes to the race this year. The Half Marathon is flat & fast with a New Course that takes you from beach to bay! Starting at the famous Beachcomber Bar & Grill, runners will run south into Seaside Park with a few turns through the beautiful residential neighborhood before running along side the bay. Runners will then be directed north through the neighborhood, loop back to the boardwalk and run to the north end of Seaside Heights until back at the Beachcomber. But it doesn't end there - runners will repeat the same loop TWICE!
The 5k race will be entirely along the boardwalk, starting north into Seaside Heights before turning south to finish at the Beachcomber Bar & Grill.
The Pine Beach 5K is back. The Ocean Running Club was well represented at the 16th Annual Pine Beach 5K on Sunday. Some warm weather and some hot racing makes this one of the largest 5K races at the Jersey Shore. Close to 500 runners cruised the quiet streets of Pine Beach, finishing along the Toms River. It was nice to see so many ORC racing singlets lining up for the race and walking around the field after finishing. ORCs Scott Sarno was the overall winner with a time of 17:05. ORCs Dianne DeOliveira was the first female to cross the line with a winning time of 19:17.
Congratulations to new race director, Sandy Rinderer, and the Ocean Running Club for putting on another successful event. Thank you to all the volunteers!
