ORC Reindeer Romp
Runners at the 15th Annual Reindeer Romp

Runners were greeted with Santa and snowflakes at the 15th Annual Reindeer Romp Sunday in Point Pleasant. Nearly 300 runners lined up for the start near The Ark Pub and Eatery, completing the 5K loop on the neighborhood streets. After the race, runners were treated to hot soup and a great buffet once again provided by the Ark.

The overall winner of the race was Richard Luettchau, finishing in 15:56. Luciano Deoliveria (16:17) and ORC's Dave DeMonico (16:38) finished second and third respectively. Jill Evarts was the first female finisher with a time of 18:51. Diane Deoliveria (19:24) and Gabby Barrett (19:41) finished second and third place.

Thank you to all the race volunteers, the Jersey Shore Running Club, and Race Directors Patrick Asay and Bill Winterbottom for another successful event.

ORC Seaside Half Marathon & 5K
Runners start the Seaside Half Marathon. Winners Joe Pellegrino and Allison Lupico.

A near record crowd of runners participated in the Ocean Running Club's 30th Annual Seaside Half Marathon. Runners raced down the boardwalk in Seaside into Island Beach State Park, before turning around and heading back to the finish on the boardwalk.

The overall winner was Joe Pellegrino, finishing in a time of 1:11:26. Wilson Leiva (1:15:11) and Pedro Espinosa (1:16:45) finished second and third respectively. Allison Lupico was the first female finisher, in a time of 1:31:22. Marcia Winrow (1:34:38) and Colleen Clancy (1:35:54) finished second and third.

Runners were treated to full post race breakfast of eggs, hash browns, sausage, yogurt, apples, bananas, coffee and juice prior to the awards ceremony.

Asbury Park Polar Bear Races
The 44th annual Asbury Park Polar Bear Races will be held on Saturday, Dec. 29th on the boardwalk. The Polar Bear 5-Mile Run will start at 1 p.m. and will be preceded by the 10-mile racewalk, and five-mile health and fitness walk at 10 a.m. The races are staged by Shore Athletic Club and sponsored by Oxford Health Plans. Special Polar Bear awards will go to leading finishers and traditional commemorative Polar Bear t-shirts to all entrants. Hot soup to all. Toms River Fitness And Aquatic Center


Thanks again to Toms River Fitness and Aquatic Center for hosting another Ocean Running Club meeting. Toms River Fitness provides their members with the environment and resources to achieve a more balanced, fulfilling and engaged life, physically and mentally. Exercise at Toms River Fitness is only one part of that. The helpful and friendly staff is equally important in assisting every person who comes through the doors in achieving goals of any kind. Today, they are one of Ocean County New Jersey’s preferred Fitness Centers due to warm welcomes, great location and variety of fitness programs available.

Jingle Bells Run Is Back
The Jingle Bells Run in Downtown Toms River is back. The 10th Anniversary of the 5K run will be on December 9th starting and finishing at the Ocean County Library on Washington Street. The 5K run begins at 3:30pm with a One Mile Fun Run/Fitness Walk starting at 3:00pm. For more information, please visit the Jinglebells Run website. Monthly ORC Group Run
New Start Time
The Ocean Running Club group run, held the first Saturday of every month at the Manasquan Reservoir will now start at 9:00am. Runners and walkers of all paces are welcome. The run will be on the 5 mile gravel perimeter trail. Multiple loops can be added for additional mileage. Meet in the parking lot off of Windeler Road next to the trail entrance, adjacent to the main building. For directions and park information, check out the Manasquan Reservoir webpage.


Boston Marathon Entries
Forwarded from DLC : The Disability Law Center (DLC) is a private non-profit law firm working to improve the lives of people with disabilities in Massachusetts. Due to limited resources DLC is not able to offer assistance to all those who need it. In order to try to increase our resources, DLC conducts fundraisers through out the year. The Boston Marathon fundraiser is going on now.

DLC has received 10 Invitational Entries to the 2008 Boston Marathon. In return for an official entry to the marathon, DLC asks athletes to raise $2,500. Numbers are available and are distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
